Mission
Healthy Monday was founded by leaders in the field of
public health dedicated to improving the health of Americans by providing a framework
for the delivery of innovative, evidence-based health campaigns aimed at reducing morbidity and
mortality associated with the four leading causes of preventable disease in the United States:
poor diet and inactivity, smoking, and alcohol misuse.
Core Principles
The Healthy Monday movement centers on the use of Monday as a nationally
recognized day dedicated to increasing health awareness, empowerment and action.
Social Change
We aim to create a social space whereby behavioral changes can take place and healthy habits
can be reinforced on Monday, and beyond.
Solidarity
We aim to support and complement on-going efforts at the forefront of disease prevention, early
identification and treatment of disease, and health advocacy.
Synergy
We aim to foster dialogue between institutional partnerships with the goal of enhancing the effectiveness
of disease prevention and early treatment initiatives on both the local and national levels.
Science
We aim to draw from the collective experience and expertise of the Healthy Monday Network to provide
innovative, evidenced-based health messages based on the most current and accurate public health research.
Advisors
The Healthy Monday team includes public health experts from Columbia University as well
as a core group of advertising, marketing and communications consultants who support the Healthy Monday mission.
